Any stay in a Fort Worth, Texas Bed and Breakfast should include a visit to at least one of these fabulous museums.

All of the above mentioned museums are located in the Cultural District, within walking distance of one another. The Cultural District is also home to Casa Mañana, a Texas-sized venue for Broadway style shoes, children’s theater, concerts, and more. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Log Cabin Village, a living history museum, are located elsewhere in town.

There is never a bad time to visit a Fort Worth museum. The exhibits are always interesting, always worth a look. Check out the Modern Art Museum in the spring, while in town to witness a student graduate from one of the many universities in Fort Worth. Check out the Amon Carter Museum of American Art while enjoying a Fort Worth, Texas Bed and Breakfast getaway in the winter.

Current Fort Worth Exhibits:

Denton, Texas, is 35 miles north of both Dallas and Fort Worth. It is a town with ample green space and room for outdoor recreation, as well as the cultural amenities, restaurants, and convenience of a large city. Home to the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University, Denton is a thriving community engaged with learning and the arts.

The Little Chapel in the Woods, at TWU

Spring is a time when many high school students tour colleges and universities. Juniors use the visits to help determine where they would like to apply; Seniors use them to help them decide where to go. Parents like to see where their children will be – what the housing is like, the campus, and the greater community. Lodging in a Denton Texas Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful way to gain insight about the town.

UNT is hosting its Spring Preview on April 2, 2011. This is a great opportunity for prospective students to tour the campus, learn more about their areas of academic interest and visit residence halls. Representatives from Admissions and Financial Aid Departments will be on hand to answer questions, as will current UNT students. More information is available at UNT Preview.

Texas Woman’s University offers campus visits Monday through Friday and one Saturday each month. Prospective students visit residence halls and meet with Admission Counselors to learn about academic programs, campus life, and financial aid. More information is available at Texas Woman’s University.

Instead of trying to get a feel for Denton in a few short hours, spend the weekend at a Denton TX Bed and Breakfast. See what life is like off campus, and imagine what it would be like for you – or your student – to live there.

Dallas is a wonderful place to visit during the holidays, especially if you stay in a Dallas bed and breakfast. Art and culture abound in this cosmopolitan city, and the shopping is superlative. You can shop in the morning, see a museum exhibit in the afternoon, and take in a show after dinner. Do it all again the following day, and the day after that. There is plenty to do and see and taste in Dallas during the holidays.

It would be hard not to shop in Dallas any time of year, but that’s especially true at this time of year. Galleria Dallas features stores found no where else in North Texas, including Façonnable and Saks Fifth Avenue. When you’ve shopped to exhaustion, enjoy a meal at one of the many fine eateries in Galleria Dallas or people watch at its Ice Skating Center, where several world renowned skaters will perform in the coming month.

No shopping in Dallas would be complete with out at least walk through the Neiman Marcus Flagship Store, in the heart of downtown. Holiday windows and lighting will be revealed on Saturday evening, November 20, 2010. You’ll also enjoy a trip to the West Village, where fashionable restaurants, eclectic shops and independent film and arts rule the day.

Spend an afternoon at The Meadows.

Art-loving guests of bed and breakfasts Dallas will have trouble deciding which museums and galleries to visit first. The best place to start is a trip to the Dallas Arts District, a 19-block neighborhood that is the heart of the city’s – indeed, the region’s – cultural life. Amid spectacular and innovative architecture visitors will find the Trammel Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and both the Symphony Center and Opera House.

The Dallas Museum of Art stands at the west end of the Arts District. Throughout the month of December it will feature a fascinating exhibit on African Masks; additional exhibits include lovely medieval tomb sculptures from the Court of Burgundy and a study of early Mexican modernist artists. The museum is open late every third Friday and on Thursday nights – a great place to find live jazz music, cocktails and dinner. Also worth a look is the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University, which houses the most impressive selection of Spanish art outside of the Iberian Peninsula.

Dallas is simply extraordinary during the holidays. Experience it for yourselves.

Fort Worth, Texas is a place of fascinating juxtapositions. On one hand, it is a modern city with excellent museums, a wide selection of restaurants featuring all types of cuisine, and important industry. On the other hand, it is a city where cowboys herd cattle down the streets twice daily. Fascinating.

Guests of Fort Worth bed and breakfasts should reserve some time to visit the Stockyard Historic District. The Stockyards of Forth Worth were at one time home to the second largest cattle market in the world, earning Fort Worth the moniker Cowtown. As a tribute to that past, real cowherds drive a herd of Texas Longhorns down the streets of the Stockyard Historic District at 11:30 and 4pm each day. Witnesses experience history in the flesh.

The Stockyard Historic District has much to offer in addition to live cattle. Walking tours provide an overview of the district’s past. The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame will teach you about the hardworking men and women who shaped cattle industry, excelled in rodeos, and strove to preserve their heritage. Stand on the ground where millions of cattle were bought and sold – the 1902 Livestock Exchange Building.

When you’re hungry, consider a trip to Risky’s BBQ, which serves tender ribs, tasty BBQ sandwiches, and the cowboy staple of calf-fries (ask the innkeepers of your bed and breakfast Fort Worth). Sit on the patio of Trailboss Burgers and enjoy a terrific view of the Cattle Drive as you sink your teeth into a Texas-style burger. Or cool off with some spicy food at Habanero’s Mexican Restaurant.

The entertainment calendar of the Stockyard Historic District is always full; you’ll probably want to visit this happening neighborhood many times during your stay in Fort Worth. Happy trails.

The Glen Rose Texas Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in North Texas is devoted to preventing the loss of endangered animal species.
The North Texas town of Corsicana is a town worth visiting. A stay at Corsicana bed and breakfasts is the perfect thing when you need to escape from the city, since the town is an hour from Dallas and 1.5 hours from Fort Worth.

The downtown area is known for its historic charm, great shops, and museums. Indeed, there are seven museums in Corsicana. At Navarro College’s Cook Center, you’ll find the excellent Pearce Western Art Museum and The Pearce Civil War Museum. After dark, wander over to the Cook Planetarium – the largest planetarium in Texas – where you may wander across the universe. Aviation enthusiasts will be drawn to the Glenn Cumble Museum of Aviation and Military History, with exhibits from World War I to present times.

If you prefer outdoor recreation to museum hopping, you’ll be pleased by what Corsicana has to offer. Cast off into Lake Corsicana or the smaller Lake Halbert. Golf at one of two excellent courses, or just meander through historic neighborhoods and take in the architecture.

No matter what you do while in Corsicana, you’ll want to bring a taste of Corsicana back home with you when you leave. Visit the Navarro Pecan Co. for nuts and dried fruits. Stop by Collin Street Bakery for one of the famous fruitcakes that have been made here since the end of the 19th century. Then pick up a box of Russell Stover Candies, also in Corsicana.

Corsicana bed and breakfast innkeepers look forward to sharing the best of their hometown with you.

Waxahachie, in North Texas, is a picturesque town about 35 miles south of Dallas and 40 miles southeast of Fort Worth. It is a lovely destination when you feel like leaving the city behind for a while.

Stay in a North Texas bed and breakfast here as you explore town. Be sure to notice the Richardson Romanesque Courthouse, considered one of the most beautiful courthouses in Texas, and the many fine Victorian homes.

Waxahachie’s abundant Victorian architecture has brought it to the attention of Hollywood. Places of the Heart, starring Sally Field, was filmed here in 1984. Several episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger, starring Chuck Norris, were also filmed in and around this North Texas town.

The Scarborough Renaissance Festival takes place here every weekend from the first weekend of April through Memorial Day. Relive the days of 1533, under King Henry VIII. There is plenty of jousting and anachronistic theater and music, and it is always fun.
