SXSW 2011

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Expect to hear some great music at South by Southwest 2011.

South by Southwest is one of the most celebrated events in all of Texas. It certainly takes hold of Austin TX. If you’re planning to attend the 2011 SXSW, consider lodging in an Austin TX Bed and Breakfast.

Austin has long been known for its eclectic music scene. As a university town and the capital of Texas, it draws people from all over the world and all walks of life, and together they make great music. Yet in the mid 1980s, not everyone had cause to go to Austin. (more…)

Spring in Seguin, Texas,

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Seguin Texas Bed and Breakfasts make a great base for exploring South Texas and the Texas Hill Country. San Antonio is just thirty five miles away, Austin fifty miles, and New Branfels less than twenty miles from this peaceful historic town.

Don't leave Seguin without pecans.

By the end of February, wildflowers in the Guadelupe Valley will be peaking. Birds such as Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, Green Kingfishers, and Crested Caracaras will be looking for mates. The temperature will be just right – not too hot, not too cold.

Plan a Seguin Texas Bed and Breakfast vacation for early spring, when the community blossoms along with wildflowers. Festivals such as the Noche de Gala, Main Street Trade Days, and the Cajun Jamboree fill the calendar. Enjoy walking tours that highlight the historic limestone architecture of Seguin and feast on locally grown pecans. Wonderful.

Christmas, Texas Style

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Texas is a wonderful place to spend the Christmas holidays. It’s warm, sunny (no need to bundle up and shovel the walkway), and festive. Cities such as Houston and Dallas have unparalleled shopping opportunities, while cities like San Antonio and Austin feature many holiday events.

Guests of Austin TX Bed and Breakfasts may see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Bass Concert Hall or the Nutcracker at the Michael and Susan Dell Hall on  December 17, 2010; On December 20, The Company Theatre presents Bah Humbug!, a one-man adaptation of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

In Houston, one can Skate Under Falling Snow at the ice rink in the Galleria or listen to the Houston Symphony perform Handel’s Messiah (December 21 – 23, 2010). Guests of Fredericksburg TX Bed and Breakfasts may complete any last-minute holiday shopping at the Fredericksburg Trade Days at Sunday Farms (December 17-18), which features more than 300 vendors and everything from ranch furniture to jewelry and clothing.

Austin’s Armadillo Christmas Bazaar

Monday, November 29th, 2010

The first Armadillo Christmas Bazaar took place in Austin, Texas, in December of 1976. Its success was immediate, and what was scheduled to be a two day event became a five day event due to popular demand. The venue has changed many times during the past 34 years, but two things have remained constant: the comittment of participating artists and musicians and the demand from the public.

In 2010, the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar will be held at the Palmer Events Center, December 15 to 24. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. In addition to original art and crafts, there will be live music and entertainment almost around the clock. For more information, please visit the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.

Austin Spring Festivals

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Austin is a Central Texas town where a lot happens. South by Southwest has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean there are no more festivals on the horizon this spring.

If you like contemporary art and innovative performance art, be spontaneous and book a room at an Austin bed and breakfast during the Fusebox Festival, which runs now through May 2, 2010. In fact, several events take place the first weekend of May: celebrate spring at the May 1 Maypole Festival at Pioneer Farms, and admire art at the Old Pecan Street Festival on Austin’s Sixth Street, May 1 and 2.

If you need more time to plan your stay at an Austin bed and breakfast, you may be interested in the Classical Guitar Festival, June 22 – 27, 2010. Or stay at a Central Texas bed and breakfast outside of town, and check out the Chamber Music Festival of Marble Falls, June 21 – 26, 2010.
