Waxahachie, in North Texas, is a picturesque town about 35 miles south of Dallas and 40 miles southeast of Fort Worth. It is a lovely destination when you feel like leaving the city behind for a while.

Stay in a North Texas bed and breakfast here as you explore town. Be sure to notice the Richardson Romanesque Courthouse, considered one of the most beautiful courthouses in Texas, and the many fine Victorian homes.

Waxahachie’s abundant Victorian architecture has brought it to the attention of Hollywood. Places of the Heart, starring Sally Field, was filmed here in 1984. Several episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger, starring Chuck Norris, were also filmed in and around this North Texas town.

The Scarborough Renaissance Festival takes place here every weekend from the first weekend of April through Memorial Day. Relive the days of 1533, under King Henry VIII. There is plenty of jousting and anachronistic theater and music, and it is always fun.
