Boerne is a historic town situated about 30 miles northwest of San Antonio, in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Founded by German colonists in the mid 19th century, it is home to the oldest German band outside of Germany, and has more than 140 nationally and state registered historic sites. People flocked to Boerne in the 19th century to bask in therapeutic springs, clean air and warm weather. Visitors today may stay in an historic Boerne TX Bed and Breakfast and glimpse what it would have been like back then. Wander in the Cibolo Wilderness Trail, a 70+ acre greenbelt of preserved wilderness nestled within the city park, or take a walking tour of many of the historic buildings in the heart of the town.
Not to be missed are the Boerne Market Days, the second weekend of each month, which offers great food, antiques, collectibles, and crafts from all over Texas. Visit galleries for art and wine on the second Saturday of each month, and then walk to your Boerne Texas Bed and Breakfast. In Mid May, step out for the Living History festival for story telling, re-enactors, and a concert under the stars at the Cibolo Nature Center. Or stay in a Boerne Bed and Breakfast in September and explore the Annual County Fair.
