Denison Texas was founded in 1872, and was from the outset an important commercial center in the 19th century American West. Located just 75 miles north of Dallas four miles south of the Texas/Oklahoma border, it is a perfect place to stop and rest while visiting the area. Enjoy the rolling and wooded terrain that stretches northward to the shores of Lake Texoma, one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States, and the Red River.
Stay in a Denison Texas Bed and Breakfast and experience first hand the history of the place. The residents of Denison are dedicated to preserving that history -- Denison has been designated a Texas Main Street City by the Texas Historical Commission. This program has helped create a significant community of artists in Denison. Your Denison TX Bed and Breakfast hosts will direct you favorite shops and restaurants, along with historic walking and driving tours of the area. Be sure to visit the birthplace of Denison’s most famous resident, Dwight D. Eisenhower, while exploring the history of the area. Then come back to the present, bring a blanket to Heritage Park on a Friday night in the summer, and listen to live music. No matter what you chose to do while in Denison, your Denison Bed and Breakfast will provide Texas hospitality and a homey place to stay.
