The city of Marble Falls, in the northeastern area of the Texas Hill Country, takes its name from twenty-foot high water falls that are now under Lake Marble Falls. The falls were quite a noticeable landmark until the Colorado River was damned and Lake Marble Falls was created. Nowadays, the marble falls are only visible when Lake Marble Falls is extraordinarily low, but the city remembers them in its name.
Marble Falls is an easy drive from Austin (just 45 miles to the southeast) and San Antonia (85 miles due south). It is situated along the Colorado River, in the middle of the Highland Lakes area, which has the largest chain of lakes than any other part of Texas. It is an ideal place to visit and stay in Hill Country bed and breakfasts, as there are many leisure activities available.
Visitors are drawn here because of the dry climate, lush rolling hills, and lakes and rivers. Boaters flock to Lake Marble Falls, where they put in kayaks, power boats, sailboats, and everything in between. Swimming is a favorite past time, as is diving and fishing. Bring your own boat, or rent one here. If you enjoy water sports, Marble Falls is the place to be.
Whether your tastes run towards golf, outdoor recreation like hiking or biking, or enjoying scenic drives to Texas wineries, you will find that Marble Falls has something for you. Staying at a Texas inn enables you to feel at home while you travel; your innkeepers will welcome you to the region and let you in on some of their favorite spots.
