The 23rd Annual General Sam Houston Folk Festival takes place April 30 – May 2, 2010. Step back into the Texas of the 1880s during this festival. There will be live music, tall tales and dancing. Chat with costumed historic personalities, and walk among a living history theatre. They’ll be arts and crafts, all sorts of tasty food, and even dulcimer workshops. You can’t go wrong!
On Saturday, May 1, 2010, the Tall Pines Quilt Guild has the Airing of the Quilts. This is by far the largest outdoor quilt show in Texas. There will be a mini-quilt auction and a competitive quilt challenge. Quilters can expect a festive atmosphere and steep competition. Admirers can expect to find many unique items available for purchase.
While in Huntsville, be sure to gaze upon the enormous statue of Sam Houston (it is difficult to miss); visit his museum to learn about one of the most remarkable figures in Texas history.
