Moore-Ventura Bed & Breakfast
Boasting all the elegance, gentility and grandeur of neoclassical architecture with its commanding facade, towering columns, and inviting wrap-around porch, this Crown Jewel of Ennis is rich in history and modern day amenities.
Upon entering the home, you are greeted by the original mahogany staircase that graces the west wall of the grand foyer. You can almost envision a gifted pianist playing Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake on the grand piano, the center piece of the room. As you make your way into the hallway, notice the 100 year old velvet drapes framing the doorway. To the left is the formal dining room with two built-in glass front china cabinets separated by a built-in bench seat. A gourmet breakfast is served here each morning. There is a separate entrance off the dining room that leads to the wrap around front porch, where guests go to enjoy the evening or morning air after a scrumptious 2-course breakfast.
Across the hall from the fully renovated chef’s kitchen and dining room are the three living rooms guests are invited to enjoy; beginning with the formal living room at the front of the home just off the grand foyer. Adjacent to the living room or Parlor is the Sitting room with a gas fireplace that keeps the room toasty warm in the winter. This room has one of the home’s six 10-ft solid wood pocket doors that lead to the center hallway. There is one other living room on the first floor which is the family or game room flanked with one of the five fireplaces in the house. There are three fireplaces down stairs and two fireplaces upstairs. The second story features three guestrooms, two with a fireplace.
The Julie Ann room located at the top of the grand front stairway faces the southeast corner capturing light from 2 directions. The twin beds provide a comfortable night’s sleep for the weary traveler. Julie Ann’s room can be connected to Karen Marie’s room by beautiful pocket doors making this a 2 bedroom suite for guests traveling together.
Karen Marie’s bedroom is the 2nd bedroom located at the top of the grand front stairway. This bedroom has a vintage fireplace and a luxurious “melt into” king size bed.
Laura Camille’s Suite is the 3rd bedroom located between the grand front stairway and the back stairway. The room has 2 entrances and is connected to a garden like sitting room surrounded with large windows that flood the room with copious natural light. This Venetian style bedroom with a queen size bed has a fireplace and a sitting area in the bedroom.
There are 2 fully renovated baths in the hallway, indicative of this period architecture. The Laura Camille Suite has a private bath.
The Julie Ann and Karen Marie rooms share a bath. If one of the rooms remains unoccupied, then this bath also becomes a private bath for the occupied bedroom.
A well stocked coffee bar is in the hallway outside the guest bedrooms for early risers or midnight snackers.
The second story veranda is a favorite among guests for sipping coffee, stimulating conversation, or just relaxing.
This is home filled with history and antiques. It is our joy to share it with you. It is our hope you will enjoy this Historical Treasure and treat it with the care it deserves.
