Quitman is a peaceful, lovely town that invites you to sit back on the porch and breathe in the fresh air. Texas Highways describes it as “Quitman Time – Set among three lakes against a back drop of tall pines, this East Texas town lures nature lovers who treasure the community’s quiet charm” (November 2007 issue). Nature lovers will also enjoy the beautiful dogwoods that make Quitman home to the annual Dogwood Fiesta celebration each May.
Governor Jim Hogg City Park hosts many community events including concerts, picnics and art in the park. The park is named for native son Jim Hogg, who was the state’s first Texas-born governor. The park includes the Light Crust Doughboys Museum honoring Western swing music. Quitman is also the proud hometown of actress Sissy Spacek.
Relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Come to Quitman and stay in a Texas Bed and Breakfast, where you will enjoy the charm of this East Texas town.
