BUILDING #3: HISTORIC DANVILLE SCHOOLHOUSE BUILDING (2500 sq. Ft.) is an original 1863 one-room Texas schoolhouse that now has 5 separate bedrooms each with a private bath. The schoolhouse was named for Daniel Murchison, a Texas Ranger and moved to our ranch from Solms in Comal County in 1990. It has been restored with the original hardwood floors, chalk board with stage, and a covered walk around porch. The rooms in this building include East Room, West Room, Danville School Suite (2 rooms) and the Danville Porch Room. Please see our calendar for room availability or call us.
HISTORY: The original property was under a Veramendi Spanish land grant. The first property owner was Francois Guilbeau, a French wine merchant as an investment. The original 1847 German pioneer home was built and owned by Andreas and Katherine Pape of Hanover, Germany. The second family was Willie and Olga Kraft and children, and they owned the property from 1900 until 1974. In 1974, Margy and Larry Waldrip and their three sons, Dibrell, Darrell and David bought and moved the property, and they have lovingly restored the Kuebler Waldrip Haus building to its present state. Each room can be rented. If you are looking for a group rental, please call. Certain requirements and conditions must be met for a group reservation (2 or more rooms).
LANDSCAPING AND BUILDING: We have recycled rocks that came from two historic buildings here in New Braunfels. In 1990, we purchased the rocks that were recycled from the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church (51%) and from the Comal County Jailhouse (49%). Some of the rocks you can tell where they came from because of the jail bar markings. One rock by our fireplace was the front step into the Comal County Jailhouse. It has a sloped design, it is 12 inches thick, and it took three people and a tractor to move it into place.
